Kathryn originates from Australia, where she won an R.A.D. scholarship to study at England’s Royal Ballet School and later joined the company.  She went on to perform in Sir Kenneth Macmillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Mayerling and Manon; Sir Frederick Ashton’s La Fille Mal Gardee and Ballet Imperial; David Bintley’s Galantaries and Sons of Horus; Jerome Robbin’s Opus no 19 and George Balachine’s Serenade.

She then joined Graeme Murphy’s Sydney Dance Company as a freelance artist performing in The Protected Veil, Piano Sonata, Black and Blue and Gloria. She was a founding member of, Chunky Move dance company and has danced with Stephen Page’s Bangarra Dance Theatre.  She played Stella in Anthony Shaffer’s The Thing in the Wheelchair, directed by Dianne Cilento at the Karnak Playhouse, Queensland.

Television and Film credits in Australia include guest roles in Channel Nine’s Water Rats, the ABC drama Wet and the short films Null and Void and Black.

In the West End she has appeared in Chicago (Adelphi Theatre), where she covered and played Roxie Hart, Contact at the Queens Theatre, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, and On Your Toes at the Royal Festival Hall, choreographed by Adam Cooper.

While in the UK, she appeared in the films The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Joel Schumacher and Beyond The Sea directed by Kevin Spacey.

In New York, Kathryn performed with Pele Bauch in “isms,” as a featured performer in the short film “The Audition” with choreographer/director, Jim Augustine and in “Chicago” at the Ambassador Theatre. 

Her choreographic work includes Bruce Beresford’s Paradise Road and I.D., a children’s show for the Sydney Opera House, which she also co-directed. Kathryn assisted Meryl Tankard on Pearl, for Tiffany’s in New York and was an invited artist to participate in a workshop for DV8 directed by Lloyd Newsom.  She choreographed the MAC Cosmetics’ “Glamour Days” worldwide campaign for 2012, “Are You Kathryn Dunn” for CIC at Dance New Amsterdam,  RIO at the 2012 NY Musical Theatre Festival and Interstice for Cora Dance, Brooklyn.

Kathryn was Associate Choreographer to Peter Darling on Billy Elliot in the West End, and Broadway, as well as Supervisor for all the US touring production companies. She was the Associate to Kate Champion, on the West End and European productions of Dirty Dancing.  She collaborated again with Peter Darling, as the Associate Choreographer on Matilda, the RSC musical  which opened on Broadway in the 2012-2013 season. She is currently the supervisor of all the Matilda productions in the USA.
